Estimated Hourly Pay Range
A stipend to cover employee healthcare (medical, dental, visiton) will be provided
Membership recruitment, leadership development, event coordination, meeting facilitation, civic engagement, team coordination.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
-Sustaining the development of a leadership committee of community members and recruit additional members to the leadership committee
-Developing and facilitating trainings
-Coordinating civic engagement events (e.g. candidate forums)
-Working in conjunction with partners to support the involvement of members in joint civic engagement activities (e.g. census outreach and ballot initiative outreach)
Other Duties and Responsibilities
-Contributing to grant reporting as needed
-Traveling throughout Orange County to deliver laptops and phones to paid outreach workers as well as volunteers
-Keeping up to date contact lists
-Social media support
Education and/or Experience
-Understanding of community organizing models and grassroots leadership development for systemic change
-Experience working in an electoral campaign setting and familiarity with voter engagement systems such as PDI and VAN
-Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Drive
-Ability to inspire community members to action and ability to build professional trusting relationships
-Understanding of the Orange County political landscape is a plus
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
-Strong public speaking skills
-Strong communication skills
-Ability to work independently and/or remotely with minimal supervision
-Ability to work from home (e.g. internet and cell phone available)
-Spanish and/or Vietnamese language fluency strongly desired
-Must have a car with updated insurance
This position reports directly to the Project Director
-Ability to sit in front of a computer for extended periods of time
-Ability to lift up to 25lbs
-Ability to drive throughout Orange County for work
OCEJ has a small staff team. The person in this position will develop a work plan with the support of the Project Director. Additionally, the community organizer will check in weekly with the Project Director to discuss successes, challenges, and identify any support needed. This position is ideal for someone who is a self starter and enjoys working flexible hours with the option to work in the office or remotely.
