Our Project Director oversees the overall implementation of a certain program/campaign by maintaining our funding base through grant writing, reporting, grassroots fundraising, & special events. Overall, our Project Director builds upon existing coalitions to engage lower income Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) in a large scale grassroots outreach and civic participation program.
The Administrative Assistant supports the Project Director with day-to-day responsibilities and coordinates fundraising events for OCEJ. They may also make themselves available to assist other organizers in campaigns or other events.
Lead Community Organizer is the main bridge to gap what we do here at OCEJ, how individuals may become members, and what they can do to join our movement. Overall our Community Organizer manages recruitment and mobilization efforts by creating safe spaces for individuals to grow.
The Political Organizer oversees a wide range of responsibilities pertaining the environment and political landscape. This includes but not limited to voter engagement, candidate canvassing, redistricting, and candidate endorsements.
Our Community Science Organizer spearheads our communication strategies in sharing heavy scientific facts to the general public to shape legislative solutions and increase educational awareness. Our PloNo Santa Ana campaign is based on dense scientific research, so it's important to have someone on our team that can summarize such findings in a easy to digest manner without diminishing the severity of the environmental issue.
Steering Committee consists of general body members who dedicated a little more time to OCEJ. Some responsibilities include but not limited to planning, co-hosting, and executing Monthly Membership Meetings. In addition, Steering committee typically meets twice a month to discuss what, why, and how OCEJ next steps we should take. To see if the Steering Committee is right for you, email our community organizer Keila Villegas at keila@ocej.org for membership information and next steps.
